Meet Winter . . .

In 2010, I planted a Golden Raindrops Crabapple tree (Malus t. Golden Raindrops) in my garden specifically to attract robins. Robins love eating the small, yellow fruit found in the tree during the colder months. The tree does its job well. We once counted eleven robins in the tree at one time. But only one special robin made it into my logo.
Winter is a leucistic (pronounced loo-kiss-tick) robin that has been coming to my garden for the last few years. You can find out more about leucistic birds here.
Leucistic robins are rare; only about 1 of every 30,000 robins are leucistic.
Although a wild bird, my daughter and I named him Winter because we would only see him in the garden at wintertime. We think the white splotches on his head and wings make him look like he’s been playing in the snow. And we adore snow!
I’m hoping my website serves as a Golden Raindrops tree of sorts, attracting authors and stories as unique as Winter.
